Cong' Set for Overhaul to Adjust All Castes

The state Congress is set to undergo organizational restructuring to provide representation to all communities proportionate to their share in population.

PATNA: A hint of this was given to the newly-appointed chief of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC), Rajesh Kumar, by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Mallikarjun Kharge and party senior Rahul Gandhi during their meeting in Delhi on Tuesday.

The meeting also made it clear that the Congress will contest upcoming Bihar polls as part of INDIA bloc and that the chief minister face of the coalition will be decided by consensus.

A senior Congress leader, who was present in the meeting, said that each committee, from district to the state levels, will have representation from EBCs, OBCs, Muslims, upper castes, scheduled castes and women communities. "Manifesto committee would be set up soon to seek people's views in different areas and incorporate them as the campaign strategy," he said, adding that fresh strategy would be drawn in a fortnight to intensify ongoing campaign to reach out and woo the masses in Bihar ahead of the polls.
