Army seeks help to get back 'encroached' land

PATNA: About 150 acre land of the Indian Army is alleged to have been encroached upon by the government agencies and individuals in six districts in Bihar. Encroachment on the defence forces land came to light after the Bihar and Jharkhand sub-area, Indian Army, launched the survey of lands as per the military land records, officials said.

Defence estate officer, Bihar & Jharkhand Sub-Area, Danapur, Mohammad Ali said exact quantity of land encroached by the individuals and the government's installations would be ascertained once the survey of land allocated for the India Army is complete.

A senior officer of the state revenue and land reforms department said that the department has written to the district magistrates of six districts, including Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Rotas, Muzaffarpur and Gopalganj to verify original owner of the land after matching it from the official records and facilitate smooth transfer of possession unencumbered land to the Indian army.
