Nepal Investigates Deadly Pro-Monarchy Violence

Nepal has launched investigations into the deadly violence that erupted during pro-monarchy protests, a district official said on Saturday, after two people were killed in the unrest and more than 100 others arrested.

KATHMANDU:

Police told AFP a protester was shot dead on Friday as thousands of people gathered in the capital Kathmandu demanding the restoration of the monarchy, with security forces using live fire and tear gas to disperse the rally.

Several buildings and vehicles were vandalized, according to the Kathmandu Valley police station, including the offices of political parties.
