Campaigning ends for 8 assembly bypolls in 7 states

The campaigning for bypolls to eight assembly constituencies across seven states and Union Territories, scheduled to go on polls on November Il, ended on Sunday.

The bye-elections will take place in Jammu & Kashmir’s Budgam and Nagrota, Rajasthan’s Anta, Jharkhand’s Ghatsila, Telangana’s Jubilee Hills, Punjab’s Tarn Taran, Mizoram’s Dampa, and Odisha’s Nuapada constituencies. The voting will coincide with the second phase of the Bihar election, with the votes to be counted on November 14.

In Jubilee Hills, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress has fielded Deepak Reddy and Naveen Yadav, respectively. The bypoll is necessitated by the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June this year. The BRS has fielded Gopinath’s widow Sunita in the upcoming bypoll.
