UPAA removes Devesh Dubey; names Narendra Kumar as new secretary

Finally, the tenure of Kanpur's Devesh Dubey as secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association came to an end as the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) supported Ashutosh Bhalla-led sporting body removed Dubey forever and appointed Narendra Kumar as its permanent secretary.

Dubey was facing charges of alleged financial and administrative anomalies and all his powers were seized recently by Bhalla and Co at its specially called meeting.

A decision of Dubey's exit from UPAA forever was taken at a special general council meeting of UP Athletics Association at Meerut on Saturday.

However, Dubey on Sunday claimed that with the support of 42 units of the UPAA out of total 67, Bhalla and Co had already been removed from the UPAA at a meeting held in Kanpur last month and that he still held the chair of UPAA secretary.
