Maoists killed in Bijapur belonged to strongest unit in Bastar: Police

The 12 Maoists killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday were from the People's Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) battalion number 1 and Central Regional Committee (CRC) company of Maoists, a top police officer said on Friday.
RAIPUR:
The identity of the slain Maoists, including five women cadre, was yet to be ascertained.
"A total of 12 hardcore Maoists, including 5 women were killed in the encounter. Their bodies have been recovered and identification of members of Battalion number 1 and CRC Company is going on," Inspector General of Police, Bastar range, Sundarraj P told reporters.
