GUWAHATI: The Assam government has written to the Centre to seek the withdrawal of a proposal for an eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) encompassing the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, which has the largest population of the endangered one-horned rhino, and seven other protected areas adjoining it, citing unresolved boundary issues, unsettled community rights and potential for socioeconomic distress.
