DPCC Proposes Measures to Contain Air, Water Pollution

Hindustan Times Haryana

March 04, 2025

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has put forward a number of proposals to enhance procedures to improve air pollution levels plaguing the Capital, as well as make better the water quality level of the stretch of the Yamuna passing through the city.

- Jasjeev Gandhiok

NEW DELHI:

The proposals were presented during DPCC's latest board meeting held on February 13, the minutes of which were shared by the body on Monday. The committee holds its board meeting every few months to set an agenda and discuss proposals for new plans. Existing plans are also discussed and reviewed through such meetings to ensure compliance to internal deadlines.

During the February 13 meeting, DPCC proposed recognising all laboratories in Delhi government colleges as "state labs", along with all labs under the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), to allow real-time testing of water samples.

The body further called for the development of a time-bound action plan, in addition to developing an app or software that will allow all labs to share data on a real-time basis.

The Capital at present has only one state lab under it where testing occurs, officials said.
