‘DISTRICT CHIEFS CAN PROSECUTE OFFICIALS OVER STUBBLE INACTION’
Hindustan Times Gurugram
|October 04, 2025
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and its adjoining areas on Friday said it has issued anew direction authorising deputy commissioners, district collectors, and district magistrates in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and the NCR areas of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to file a complaint before judicial magistrates in case of inaction from officials towards prevention of stubble burning.
CAQM said this was being done to hold officials, including nodal officers, supervisory officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) accountable for stubble burning under their jurisdictions. It also said this ensures better vigilance and management at the ground level.
