Day after ‘offer’ to join Maha govt, Uddhav meets Fadnavis

It may have been said in jest or to make a political point, but within 24 hours of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis extending an offer to Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray to join the ruling side, the latter met him in the chambers of legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde, in a closed door meeting.
The meeting though brief, led to speculations of an upheaval in state politics. Significantly, the meeting which indicates a thaw in the relations between Fadnavis and Thackeray, comes amid reports of cold war between Fadnavis and his deputy Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena.
Elections to local bodies in the state, including the all-powerful BMC, are expected to be held after the monsoon following a Supreme Court directive to the state government.
The fact that Wednesday's comment and Thursday's meeting are the latest of several instances of a growing bonhomie between Fadnavis and Thackeray hasn't been lost on people.
