|January 16, 2026
Operation Sindoor emerged as a balanced military response amidst the uncertainties prevailing worldwide, defence minister Rajnath Singh said while addressing a gathering on the occasion of 78th Indian Army Day celebrations in Jaipur on Thursday.
‘The operation will be remembered in history as a symbol of India’s courage, strength, restraint & national character, Singh said.
Stressing on the goal of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, the defence minister said the use of indigenous weapons during the operation underscored the fact that self-reliance is not a matter of pride but a necessity.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi said the Indian Army is rapidly transforming into a future-ready force, and indigenously developed equipment has become a “strategic necessity” as the military prepares for evolving and unpredictable forms of warfare.
