Security cover for Manmohan Singh's wife scaled down to 'Z'

The Centre has downgraded the security protection cover from Z+ to Z for Gursharan Kaur, the wife of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, after a security threat perception review, people aware of the matter said on Friday.

Kaur, who had CRPF's highest category of security, will now be protected under the Z category cover, an officer who asked not to be named, confirmed.

For the last four months, Kaur was still accorded Z+ security cover, in continuation of the government's order in 2019. The CRPF's Z+ security cover was accorded to her and former PM Singh because of the threat to his life.
