BELAGAVI: A day after minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar's car met with an accident, her driver on Wednesday filed a hit-and-run complaint alleging involvement of an unidentified truck, police said.

Belagavi SP Bhimashankar Guled said that a first information report has been filed in the case on the basis of a complaint by the minister's driver. According to the complaint, "The incident took place on Tuesday at around 5 am near Ambadgatti, shortly after the vehicle crossed Kittur town. Gangadharaiah, the driver, was driving in lane 2 of the highway when a large truck in lane 1 grazed the car as he attempted to overtake. The truck struck the car again, forcing it off the road, where it collided with a tree after crossing the adjoining service road."

This comes a day after the driver had claimed that the crash took place due to an attempt to avoid a stray dog on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway.
