BJP Invites Nominations for TN Party Chief's Post

Hours before Union Home Minister Amit Shah's arrival in Chennai late on Thursday, BJP's Tamil Nadu unit invited applications for the post of state party president and mandated that those who want to contest will require at least 10 years of party membership.

Tamil Nadu BJP vice president and state election officer M. Chakaravarthi on Thursday released a statement urging party leaders to submit their nominations for the post by Friday.
"Those who want to contest in the president election for the post of state president shall download the willingness form from the state party website, fill and submit it in state BJP headquarters at Kamalalayam from tomorrow 2 pm to 4 pm," the statement read. The statement read that the candidate should "at least be 10 years as a member of BJP."
Shah is on his first visit to the state after the BJP and its former ally AIADMK began alliance talks last month. On March 26, AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) met Shah in New Delhi, fueling speculation that the BJP could ally with the AIADMK ahead of the 2026 polls.
