5 Held After Tushar Gandhi Waylaid Over RSS Remarks

KOCHI: Kerala police arrested five people, including a BJP councillor, a day after the vehicle of Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, was waylaid and slogans were raised against him following his remarks critical of the RSS at a function in Neyyattinkara on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram.
"We have booked five identifiable persons on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly and wrongful restraint. The probe is ongoing and no arrests have been made yet," said an officer at the Neyyattinkara police station where the FIR was registered.
The arrested men have been identified as Jayakrishnan, Sooraj Kumar, Harikumar, Anoop, N Mahesan Nair. Nair is a BJP councillor in the Neyyattinkara municipality, a senior police officer at the Neyyattinkara police station said. They were arrested and later released on bail.
