Future uncertain as buyout could see 200 Poundland branches shut

PEPCO has sold discount chain Poundland to investment firm Gordon Brothers for a “nominal” sum, the retail group has announced.
According to The Telegraph, the new owners take on an aggressive recovery strategy. This reportedly includes shutting down between 150 and 200 stores, with up to 500 more facing rent renegotiations.
Poundland has a workforce of some 16,000 people and operates 800 branches nationally, including in Paignton, Teignmouth, Dartmouth and Ivybridge as part of a major presence in the South West.
