Drugs crackdown sees arrests and weapons seized

LARGE quantities of drugs, cash and firearms were seized as the latest region-wide crackdown led to multiple arrests.
Operation Scorpion saw a week of heightened activity from June 23 to 29 to eradicate drug dealing and protect those who are being exploited.
The 12th iteration of the campaign saw the five South West police forces and police and crime commissioners join together to reduce harm caused by drugs.
Run in conjunction with National County Lines Intensification Week, the focus was on taking action against those who exploit children, help drug dealers or choose to look the other way.
In Devon and Cornwall, the opera tion saw 41 people arrested, £57,466 in cash seized as well as 85g crack, 194.4g heroin, 64kg cocaine, 11.6kg cannabis resin and 0.5kg ketamine. Op Scorpion also saw 15 people safeguarded in Devon and Cornwall, and weapons seized including hunting knives, eight firearms and pepper spray.
