New flats for old town hall

Work is underway on the transformation of the former Motherwell Town Hall into 20 modern, affordable flats.

Set in the heart of the town, the refurbishment will involve the partial demolition of the empty former Zone building while preserving the Grade C listed front facade, blending retained architectural features with energy-efficient, modern housing.

The new flats form part of North Lanarkshire Council’s new supply programme which aims to deliver 6000 homes by 2035. Built to the highest design standard the properties comprise ten one-bedroom amenity flats, three one-bedroom and seven two-bedroom mainstream flats.

The latest development is also delivering landscaped communal gardens promoting biodiversity and enhanced outdoor amenity space, including external drying, secure bin and cycle storage areas.
