SC dismisses petition against Kerala CM's daughter

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition by Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan seeking a court-monitored investigation into alleged illegal payments made to Exalogic Solutions, a firm previously owned by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter, Veena Thaikandy.

The court not only dismissed the petition outright but issued a sharp warning against the growing trend of using judicial forums to settle political scores.

A Bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran refused to interfere with concurrent findings by the Kerala High Court and Vigilance Court, both of which had previously declined to order an investigation.

"You want us to monitor a probe based on suspicion? Where is the material?" the Bench observed during the brief hearing. "Fight political battles in the political arena, not in the court", the Bench admonished the petitioner.
