Satellite launches, global ties mark MBRSC's success in 2025
Gulf Today
|January 04, 2026
2025 marked a defining year for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), shaped by flagship satellite launches, leadership-led milestones, and a strong programme of international collaboration and public engagement.
From orbit to Earth applications, the Centre’s work this year advanced national capability across Earth observation, exploration readiness, geospatial science, and innovation.
Major progress was anchored by the successful launches of MBZ-SAT, Etihad-SAT, and PHI-I, alongside the launch of HCT-SAT I.
The year also included strategic agreements linked to the Gateway lunar space station and the Emirates Lunar Mission, while global platforms such as Geospatial Week 2025, Dubai Airshow 2025, and the International Astronautical Congress strengthened dialogue, partnerships, and visibility for the UAE's space ecosystem.
The pages that follow capture the milestones that defined the year, organised by launches, leadership communications, major events, strategic visits, and internal programmes that continued to build the next generation of national talent.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum witnessed, at the Mission Control Centre at MBRSC, the successful launch of MBZ-SAT, which is the most advanced satellite in the region and named in honour of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
