Porteous moves ahead at Abu Dhabi Challenge

ABU DHABI: Defending champion Garrick Porteous has positioned himself firmly at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round of the Abu Dhabi Challenge, holding a narrow one-shot lead.

The Englishman delivered a composed and confident performance in the third round, carding an impressive four-under-par 68 on the picturesque Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club.

With his title defense in full swing, he will look to build on his momentum and secure back-to-back victories in what promises to be a thrilling final day of competition as Porteous, who began the third round trailing overnight leader Robin Sciot-Siegrist by two strokes, overcame a challenging start to climb his way into the lead.

After dropping shots on the second and fourth holes, the defending champion quickly regained his rhythm, responding with a string of brilliant birdies on the sixth, seventh, and ninth holes.
