Kerala books top ED officer in Rs20 million bribery case

Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) named a senior officer of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), responsible for investigation into mainly black money (hawala) operations in the country, as the first accused in a corruption case involving Rs2 crores (Rs20 million).
Addressing media persons, Vigilance SP S. Sasidharan said the FIR named the ED official as the first accused since the complainant had explicitly mentioned his name in his plaint.
"His role needs to be investigated. It is natural to name someone as accused when there is a clear reference to him in the complaint. More details cannot be revealed for the time being since it would affect the probe," he said.
