India's domestic sugar outlook stable

NEW DELHI: The outlook for India’s sugar sector remains stable with comfortable domestic demand-supply dynamics even as global sugar prices have declined sharply due to surplus supply from Brazil, a report said on Friday.

India's domestic sugar outlook is stable, with production expected to rise 5 per cent to 31.5 million tonnes in 2015-16, but exports are projected to fall 20 per cent to 2.5 million tonnes, according to the Indian Sugar Mills Association.

According to ICRA, international sugar prices in the 2026 sugar year have remained below current production costs and domestic price levels, largely due to higher global output.
