Follow EES rules when entering EU countries, says ministry
Gulf Today
|October 11, 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday announced that European Union countries will begin implementing the new Entry and Exit System (EES) on Oct. 12, 2025. This system requires the registration of passport data and biometric information (photo and fingerprints) upon first entry into an EU border crossing.
The Ministry urged UAE citizens travelling to the EU to observe these procedures, explaining that holders of diplomatic passports are exempt.
The Entry/Exit System will require all non-EU citizens to register their personal details, including fingerprints and facial images, upon their first entry into the Schengen area - all EU nations apart from Ireland and Cyprus, plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
