India’s Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially approved the proposal to rename the state of Kerala to ‘Keralam’.

This landmark decision follows a series of resolutions moved by the Kerala state government, which sought to alter the state’s name under Article 3 of the Constitution of India.

The move aims to align the official English title of the state with its native Malayalam name, a change that has been a point of cultural pride.
