ANTI-IMMIGRATION MARCH DEEPENS POLITICAL DIVIDE

- BY STEPHEN N.R.

A massive anti-immigration rally in London, spearheaded by far-right activist Tommy Robinson and boosted by Elon Musk’s fiery virtual address, has left dozens of police officers injured and deepened Britain’s political divide. Here’s what you need to know:

What happened?

An estimated 150,000 people marched through central London on Saturday in the “Unite the Kingdom” rally, organised by Robinson. Protesters carried England’s St. George’s flag and the Union Jack while chanting slogans like “We want our country back” and “Stop the boats.”

There have been 111,000 asylum claims this year till June 2025, up 14 per cent year-on-year. There have been over 28,000 arrivals by small boats in 2025, a 46 per cent rise on 2024.

Why was Musk involved?
