The UAE welcomed several babies this Eid Al Adha, bringing joy to families across the nation. While gynaecologists are often in the spotlight during such moments, Gulf News turns the focus to the dedicated midwives working quietly behind the scenes.

Behind every newborn's first cry and every mother's sigh of relief, there's a midwife offering comfort, confidence and care. Three passionate midwives from Jordan, Iran and India spoke about how they transform lives — one birth at a time — at Dubai Health facilities.

A calling, not a profession

For Sabreen Wahbeh, a registered midwife at Latifa Hospital, who hails from Jordan, midwifery is a deep-seated passion rooted in respect for women's strength during childbirth.
