Funding saves bus service from route changes

WELSH Government funding is now set to save a vital bus service from proposed cuts.

Stagecoach South Wales recently announced plans to cancel part of the daytime route provided by the service number 172, from Hendreforgan in Rhondda Cynon Taf to Bridgend Bus Station.

The service connects passengers from the Ogmore Valley and wider to Bridgend town centre.

The proposed changes followed a decline in the number of passengers using the service and would have affected passengers from Evanstown and Gilfach Goch, as well as those from Glynogwr and the eastern side of Blackmill.
