BHEL Named Lead Agency for PM-EV Scheme to Accelerate India's Electric Mobility Drive

In a significant boost to India's electric vehicle ambitions, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been appointed as the nodal agency for the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Electric Vehicle (PM-EV) scheme. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), marking a strategic step toward building a robust EV ecosystem across the country. As the designated nodal agency, BHEL will be at the forefront of planning, coordinating, and monitoring the rollout of key EV infrastructure, including nationwide charging networks and support for EV manufacturing. This role positions BHEL to act as a bridge between the public and private sectors, fostering collaboration to meet the government's clean mobility goals. The PM-EV scheme is a flagship initiative aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and cutting emissions by driving large-scale adoption of electric vehicles.
