MP backing youth mental health push

Frome and East Somerset MP Anna Sabine has announced an initiative that will address the growing challenge of mental health in children and young people.

Ms Sabine will work in partnership with Beacon Services Resources CIC and Frome Medical Practice on the project, a town-wide “Hackathon”.
Taking place on Saturday, September 6, the event will bring together young people, parents, teachers, and health professionals to explore the barriers to identifying and supporting mental health issues, and to develop practical, community-led solutions.
A Hackathon is a community event where people come together to collaborate, share ideas, and develop practical solutions to a specific issue - in this case, young people’s mental health.
As awareness grows around the complexity of mental health and its many manifestations in children and adolescents, the organisers are keen to listen to the lived experiences of local families and professionals to help shape more effective responses.
