He is Rajesh Kumar Meena, a 1988-batch officer of the Maharashtra cadre, who has now been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. He assumed the esteemed position of heading the Maharashtra bureaucracy in Mumbai on June 30.

Rajesh Kumar Meena, originally from Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, is the son-in-law of former BJP Member of Parliament from Dausa, Jaskaur Meena. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has held several key positions within the Maharashtra government, ultimately rising to the esteemed post of Chief Secretary. However, he is set to retire after two months in August 2025.

His appointment is notable for its timing as he assumes the top bureaucratic post with just 61 days left before his superannuation. Despite the short tenure, the decision by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis underlines the trust in his capabilities to steer the administrative machinery during a crucial period.

With this elevation, Meena becomes one of the few officers from Rajasthan to ascend to such a prestigious position in a major state like Maharashtra.
