PROMOTION DELAYED

- Rajendra Chhabra

RAS officers and 8 officers from other services who are to be promoted to IAS will have to wait longer. It is taking time to complete the formalities in DOP at the top level of the government.

About 15 days ago, the UPSC wrote to the state government asking for corrections.

The DoP since then has been working on addressing the issues raised in the letter. All discrepancies have now been rectified. The DoP is expected to write to the UPSC this week, requesting that a date be fixed for the selection board meeting.

According to experts, the meeting is likely to take place in the first fortnight of June. If the prescribed procedures are followed without further delay, RAS officers could receive the long-awaited promotion by the end of June.
