There's no denying that over the last year or so we've been exposed to the absolute worst of the financial advice industry - First Guardian, Shield, and United Global Capital (UGC) have brought some truly unscrupulous operators out of the woodwork and into the light.

- By Jamie Williamson

This past fortnight alone we've seen several actions by ASIC against advisers involved, one who even put clients into UGC's funds before then swapping licensee and spruiking the Shield Master Fund instead.

While it's obviously amazing to see ASIC moving and those responsible being held accountable, it's still difficult to fathom these kinds of schemes continue to pop up.

After so much scrutiny and such a long journey to professionalism, for the industry to once again be cast in such a negative light is devastating.

But it's exactly why highlighting excellence in the sector is so important, too.
