Aussie profits flat, earnings soar
Financial Standard
|February 09, 2026
Profits of Australia's largest listed companies remained flat in 2025, normalising after an exceptional performance in 2021 and 2022, when high metal and energy prices led to record earnings for commodity firms.
The Capital Group Global Equity Study analyses financial results of the world's largest 1600 companies by market capitalisation over the last 10 years. The latest study looks at half-yearly or quarterly results to November 2025.
Annual profits in 2025 for Australian companies in the index came in at US$67.7 billion ($100.5bn), up from US$66.3 billion ($98.5bn) in 2024, with revenue rising 0.4% in US dollar terms.
