Titan's profit soars 61% as gold sizzles

TITAN ON TUESDAY reported a consolidated net profit of %1,684 crore for the December quarter, posting a 61% year-on-year rise in bottomline and beating Street estimates by a wide margin.
The profit jump came on the back of high gold prices.
Bloomberg consensus estimates had pegged the net profit at 1,502 crore for Q3.
Spot gold prices rose nearly 12% during the quarter, driven by geopolitical uncertainties, rate cuts and robust central bank buying of gold.
