Over 1 mn units installed under rooftop solar scheme

UNDER ITS FLAGSHIP rooftop solar programme, PM Suryaghar Muft Bijlee Yojana, the government has facilitated over 1 million rooftop solar connections as of March 10, Pralhad Joshi, minister of new and renewable energy said on Tuesday.
The scheme, launched in February 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims at installing rooftop solar at 10 million households by 2027 with a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore. For FY24-25, an allocation of ₹13,175.33 crore has been made for the scheme.
As of March 10, the scheme has facilitated the installation of over 3 GW of rooftop solar capacity, with an additional 27 GW targeted by March 2027, the government said.
The scheme has received 4.73 million applications and 613,000 beneficiaries have successfully received subsidies, amounting to ₹4,770 crore.
