Rupee Falls 16p to 86.75 as W. Asia Conflict Escalates

Under Pressure
Amid an escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran, the rupee depreciated 16 paise to close at 86.75 on Monday. Intra-day, it fell to 86.85, before making a recovery as prices of crude oil eased.
Dealers said the Reserve Bank of India intervened at lower levels. Brent crude touched $81 per barrel in the early hours and fell to $77.4 per barrel afterwards.
