The overall direct tax collections fell 1.5% on year to ₹4.56 lakh crore as of June 16, 2025 while corporate tax receipts declined 5.1% on year to ₹1.72 lakh crore.

Post-refund income tax receipts, including the securities transaction tax saw a flat 1% growth to ₹2.84 lakh crore.
Although these are still early days, this raises fear of direct tax receipts falling below the Budget projections.
