FIRST MEET TO BE HELD NEXT WEEK

- SAURAV ANAND

INDIA AND THE United Kingdom (UK) on Wednesday launched a dedicated offshore wind taskforce to fast-track the development of large-scale sea-based renewable energy projects, marking a major push to unlock a sector that has remained untapped despite the country's rapid clean-energy expansion.

Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi and UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy jointly unveiled the initiative under the India-UK Vision 2035 framework, with Denmark also joining as a strategic partner to bring global experience in offshore wind deployment. The taskforce will hold its first meeting next week and is expected to focus on execution roadmaps, financing frameworks and supply-chain readiness.
