Gadkari bats for GST relief for scrappage buyers

ROAD TRANSPORT AND highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday called on the automobile industry to step up incentives for buyers who scrap their old vehicles, while urging the government to consider GST relief on new purchases linked to scrappage.
He said that if the manufacturers offer additional discounts on vehicles purchased with scrappage certificates, it will create a virtuous cycle of recycling, demand and revenue.
