Need institutions that can upskill and help in transition
AS CONCERNS LOOM globally over possible displacement of workforce owing to the impact of AI, the Economic Survey on Friday said India's workforce in low-skill and low-value-added services remains vulnerable.
To minimize the impact, the Survey has recommended creation of 'robust' institutions that can help transition workers to medium-and high-skilled jobs, where they can work alongside AI rather than being replaced by this technology.
It has also said that the regulatory frameworks will need to be revisited and amended so that the use of AI aligns with societal values, balancing innovation with accountability and transparency.
Further, a tripartite pact between the government, private sector and academia has been suggested to ensure that the gains from AI-driven productivity are widely distributed, aligning with inclusive growth strategy.
