Teenagers have been clambering on roofs and generally causing trouble in Whipton

- by PAUL GREAVES

RESIDENTS in a suburb of Exeter say they are being plagued by a gang of roof-hopping 'feral' teenagers climbing over buildings and making their lives hell.

Police have become regular visitors to Whipton to answer reports of trespassing, brick-throwing and abusive behaviour.

Tensions have increased between a group of between six and eight school-age teens, mostly girls, and residents.

The teenagers are accused of showing no respect for adults or property and residents feel powerless to stop them clambering around, banging on windows, kicking doors and running through their gardens.

While the anti-social antics may appear low level and nuisance, there is a fear of it escalating and someone being hurt. The fire service, local councillor and now the city's MP have all got involved.

Locals fear the teens are as much in danger of harming themselves as they are other people but so far, despite being spoken to by police and residents, the situation has only got worse and tensions are rising.
