Affordable scheme deservedly gets a 'yes' over land deal
Express and Echo
|June 26, 2025
RANSOM strips are not uncommon, and can be held for a variety of reasons, whether to be able to have some control over a development or purely for financial gain.
-
Exeter City Council holds one such patch of land off Pendragon Road in Beacon Heath. A developer had a scheme approved for a housing development in fields the other side, and needed to buy the strip of land from the council to be able to gain access and carry out the scheme.
However, last year the authority decided against selling the land. That led to the company behind the homes scheme to launch a judicial review into the decision. That hearing is due to take place next month.
