‘Superstar-in-making’ Clinton can grace Lionesses for years
Evening Standard
|February 27, 2024
THE first time that Sarina Wiegman rang Grace Clinton to tell her she was in the Lionesses squad, the midfielder missed the call.
The 20-year-old has a bad signal where she lives but, at the third time of asking, the England manager finally got through to give her the good news.
Clinton has certainly answered England's call now, having marked her debut on Friday with a goal in the 7-2 victory over Austria.
The midfielder excelled playing as a No8 alongside Ella Toone and deserves to keep her place for tonight's friendly against Italy at the same Spanish venue in Algeciras.

The barbarism of the Iranian regime is plain — the West must not look away
After relatively little in the news about the massacre of civilians inside Iran this month, the world is finally beginning to catch up on the horrors unfolding. Protests against the economic situation quickly turned to calls to bring down the government and grew to 186 towns and cities across Iran. In a television address on January 9, an order came from the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to security forces to suppress the protests “by any means necessary... shoot to kill and show no mercy”.
