SWANSEA EYE No2 AS POSTECOGLOU SAYS SIDE IS AT INFANCY’ OF POTENTIAL
TOTTENHAM this morning rejected an approach from Swansea for assistant manager Chris Davies, who has emerged as a leading candidate to take charge at the Championship club.
Davies joined Spurs in the summer as Ange Postecoglou’s No2, having spent most of his career as an assistant to Brendan Rodgers at Swansea, Liverpool, Celtic, and Leicester.
The 38-year-old was in the frame for the Swans jobs before Michael Duff was named head coach in June and has remained on the Welsh club’s radar. Duff was sacked on Monday after a five-game winless run which left Swansea 18th in the second tier.
Spurs hope Davies (below) will now stay, although it remains to be seen if Swans chairman Andy Coleman will make another play for the former Wales Under-19 international, whose playing career was cut short by injury.
Meanwhile, Postecoglou believes his Spurs side are still at “the infancy” of their attacking play and have enormous scope for improvement in front of goal.
Ahead of tonight’s visit of West Ham, the Spurs head coach singled out Dejan Kulusevski as a player who can score more but has no concerns about Heung-min Son and backed the Korean to go down as a Premier League great.
