Pupils handed manual to fight moped muggers

A LONDON school has issued anti-mugging manuals to pupils after a series of students were targeted in moped gang robberies.

Graveney School in Tooting sent out the handbook titled protect yourself and your mobile phone against criminals” after at least 10 victims were attacked by knife-wielding muggers.

Police are investigating a number of robberies by between one and four men on mopeds which took place in the Furzedown area from October 7. On some occasions one of the suspects had a knife, a police spokesman said.

Tooting MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan said she has raised concerns about student safety with police, who have now increased patrols. She told the Standard: I was deeply concerned to hear pupils were being targeted. I swiftly contacted local police leadership to insist on action. Every child deserves to walk our streets without fear.
