More Paris riots after Macron passes pension reform by decree

PROTESTERS blockaded one of Paris’s busiest streets and closed the port of Calais today as anger over Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms intensified.
Demonstrators halted traffic on the capital’s ring road this morning while ferry passengers faced disruption as the Channel crossing hub was targeted for another day of protests.
It followed a night of violence in towns and cities including Nantes, Marseille and Paris, where there were 258 arrests, mainly for violent disorder offences.
Hundreds of thousands took to the streets yesterday to express their fury after Mr Macron bypassed parliament and used a presidential decree to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.
