Hamas and Russia both want to annihilate democracy, says Biden in TV address

US President Joe Biden has warned that Hamas and Russia want to “annihilate” democracy in an address to the nation from the Oval Office.
Mr Biden made the case for deepening American involvement in two foreign conflicts as he prepared to ask for billions of dollars in military assistance for both countries. In the televised address, he said “conflict and chaos could spread in other parts of the world” if international aggression is allowed to continue. The president said: “Hamas and [Russian president] Putin represent different threats. But they share this in common. They both want to completely annihilate a neighbouring democracy.”
