Family tells of agony as boy, 16, is charged with son's murder

THE family of a schoolboy stabbed to death outside his school today spoke of their devastation as a 16-year-old youth was charged with his murder

Renell Charles, 16, a pupil at Kelmscott school in Walthamstow, was attacked shortly after the end of the day on Friday. Emergency services attended but he died at the scene a short time later.
Fighting back tears, a cousin today told the Standard: “He was a happy boy, now he has gone. Why? His parents are devastated. He was a good person.”
A 16-year-old boy was set to appear at Stratford magistrates’ court after he was charged with Renell’s murder.
Students and teachers this morning laid flowers at the spot where he died outside the gates of the school.
