Scotland's sea fishing bosses begin their international team selection process when they host their first match of this year - and it is in Edinburgh.
-
Newhaven Breakwater is the venue tomorrow (Saturday, January 24) with registration from 2.30pm to 2.45pm at EH6 6PG. Fishing is from 4pm to 8pm.
This is a pegged, measure and release match that is sponsored by Tronixpro, and there is a 15cm minimum size limit.
The event is pre-book only and a three hook rule applies. Contact Chris Horn on 07872 944807 to book. Entry is £20 for seniors and £5 for juniors, and there are optional pools on the day. Two zones will operate.
Several Scottish internationals including Mike and Chris Horn from Kirkcaldy, plus Ayrshire-based Davy Neil and Brian Maxwell plus Ian Campbell (Falkirk) are listed, along with Lothians duo David Cooper (Edinburgh) and Barry McEwan (Port Seton), who have both fished in the world championship.
Gordon Lyall, who has figured prominently in the Edinburgh Winter Shore League, is another name to note along, with promising Capital schoolboy, Eryk Janik, already a Scotland underage international.
The second match in the Edinburgh New Year Shore League is at Newhaven West tonight (Friday, January 23) with registration from 6pm to 6.15pm at Western Harbour Breakwater EH6 6PA. Fishing is from 7pm to 10pm.
